Rebecca Jorgensen, M.Ed.
English Teacher
After spending her childhood traveling the country as part of a U.S. Navy family, Rebecca settled in Cedar City, graduating with honors from SUU with a B.A. in English and her secondary teaching certification. She built her career teaching English in Iron County School District’s alternative programs where her passion for helping at-risk teens develop skills in literacy and critical thinking was honored with the prestigious Power of the Dream award. She went on to earn a literacy endorsement and complete an M.Ed in instructional design with the aim of providing her students with the best possible instruction. Twenty years of classroom experience have provided Rebecca with a full professional toolkit that includes extensive training in curriculum design, mentoring, scaffolding instruction, adolescent literacy, and digital teaching and learning.
In her time outside of the classroom, Rebecca enjoys caring for and propagating house plants, cruising Cedar City’s gorgeous streets and trails on her ebike, searching thrift stores for quirky treasures, and cuddling her Brittany Spaniel, Marty McFly Jorgensen.
Rebecca is excited to join the faculty of Mountain Springs this year because she believes that for authentic learning to take place, individualization is key and community is essential.
